In 2002, after enrolling in a year-long coaching program through his work, Mark Hagan began to question his purpose in life. He had come to two conclusions about his life: over the last 33 years he had been extremely blessed and he had been extremely selfish when it came to doing for others .
In the fall of 2002, Mark began ot look into how he might give back to the community. His grandfather suggested The Providence Network in Denver where he had served on the board of directors for nine years. For over 25 years, the Providence Network of Denver has been helping homeless men and women seek a stable and safe environment to heal. The first home was established in Denver's inner city in 1988. Today the Providence Network operates in six homes that provide affordable living for approximately 100 residents and their children. Mark visited Denver and realized that there was a need not being served in the greater Dallas area.
Mark founded Dallas Providence Homes as a sister organization to the Providence Network for Denver in January 2003. With support from generous individuals, foundations, and corporations, Dallas Providence Homes opened its first supportive community home in Seagoville, Texas with church partner Robinwood Baptist.
In 2007, Dallas Providence Homes opened up its second home, Emily's Place, in Plano Texas. |
